Sitting in shallows, with the surface of the water just below my chin, the smell of the salt air, the warm breeze, and the water engulfing me, I felt at one with all that is. Because I become so immersed in nature while on the shore, it is there that I feel closest to God. To sustain this feeling beyond the shore is a daily goal I take quite seriously. Though I often fail, it is with persistence that I live more consistently in alignment with God. In doing so, I find the ability to contribute to the peace and harmony that exists in our troubled world. The poem I wrote titled "I Am" refers to this feeling.
