Into LA #2
Into LA #2
Oil on canvas
14 x 11 in
This is a framed painting. It is on view at EDNA Contemporary Art, 967 Osos St., San Luis Obispo, CA.
After a long break from painting due to a cross country move and a bad injury, I decided to creatively explore the California mountains and hills. Highway 5, driving south Into LA winds tightly through the Santa Monica Mountains providing one with close up views.
It is interesting to me that while driving into LA on two different occasions, I photographed the same mountain, a few hundred feet apart. Into LA #3 is a view slightly further south and includes hills just beyond which are not visible in #2. The color of the hills had changed from green to gold as well.
What a difference a few months and a few hundred feet can make!
Varying perspectives and the passage of time can make a big difference not only in the landscape but in our lives as well.
May we all strive to remember that another person’s perspective may be very different from our own. After all, whether two individuals are from completely different cultures or were raised in the same family, the time and circumstance in which they were born and the individual’s unique mind, will all have a very large impact on how they view the world and live their lives.
Keeping this in mind will give us the ability to act with grace and understanding when we are in disagreement or when one neglects to treat another with kindness and respect.
