There are hills that stretch up the coast and Central Valley of California from Santa Barbara to Sacramento that are covered in wild oak grass which dries to a beautiful, golden brown in summer. It is an iconic California scene familiar to many.
Yet when we moved here, it was spring and the hills were bright with a vibrant green. The simple landscape with its rolling hills covered in high grass and dotted with large oaks trees, seem to move to a gentle rhythm.
The green hills would soon change to gold, its vibrancy dimming to a pale brown and then again to green. The placid movement of the California Hills stretching out before me are a reminder to walk through life peacefully, as time and change, carries me along.
