Last Light at Pismo

Last Light at Pismo

30x60" oil on canvas

This painting was inspired by the delicate formations left in the sand after high tide.

The beach is constantly rearranged by the constant onslaught of the waves and the changes in the tide. Yet when the sand formations are formed and are undisturbed, what is left is a small landscape of great beauty.

In much the same way, our minds are shaped by life’s challenges. Yet with faith, gratitude and presence, we can create inner harmony.

At first this inner calm is temporary, it comes and goes like the patterns in the sand. With practice the change is more frequent and eventually, it becomes who we are.

We practice by letting go, by forgiving others, by living in the present and focusing on the beauty around us, the good in our lives and the people we love.

Like the water left to itself to settle into the sand, we can leave an imprint of uniformity, fluidity and beauty wherever we go.

Returning to the same beach at low tide, the beautiful sand formations were not there. Beauty is so often fleeting.

This painting is suitable to be hung horizontally or vertically.
