People look but rarely take the time to truly see. My work invites the viewer to slow down, to avoid the tendency to judge and to discover what quietly reveals itself.
The figures in my nude paintings gaze downward. They are vulnerable, introspective, and long to be seen beyond the surface. It is a feeling I have known well.
Like a weathered shell, worn by time yet intact at its core, we carry an inner beauty shaped through hardship. In our struggles, there is the potential for deeper compassion, acceptance, and peace.
I see this same resilience in the California hills, where light meets shadow, and the pathways at the ridge still lead toward the summit. Even in uncertainty, the possibility of growth and fulfillment remains.
There is profound beauty all around us. It is in the patterns left in the sand, in light reflecting off water, in the shapes of shadows and the rhythm of hills. It is there for us to treasure, if we allow ourselves to be fully present and deeply see.
When we do, we begin to see a greater truth as well. Everything and everyone is connected. Every footprint, every hillside, every action, every moment, every person. We are all a part of a larger whole. What is done to one, eventually affects us all.
This is the essence of my holistic paintings, where no single element dominates, and the entire canvas resonates as a complete, harmonious whole.
